Jacquelyn Hovey

Jacquelyn is currently completing her articles at DUKE & COMPANY, gaining hands-on experience in Family Law, Child Welfare, Civil Litigation, Immigration, and Real Estate. Throughout her articling term, she works with clients across Alberta, including those in rural communities such as St. Paul, Hinton, and Wetaskiwin.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology with distinction from Concordia University Edmonton, where she actively participated in the Rotaract Club and Psychology Club. Jacquelyn then pursued an accelerated law degree at the University of Dundee in Scotland, engaging with the Dundee Law Society, the Mooting Society, and volunteering with the university’s International Assistance Department.

Before law school, Jacquelyn worked in community-based programs in Edmonton focused on homelessness and addiction support. These experiences have strengthened her commitment to community involvement and her passion for helping others. She has recently joined the Legal Aid roster, continuing to serve the community wherever she can. Jacquelyn brings a well-rounded, thoughtful approach to her work, particularly in understanding and addressing the needs of her clients.

Outside of her legal pursuits, Jacquelyn enjoys planning trips to new destinations, practicing Pilates, diving into a good book, and exploring new places around the city.
